2008 Night Orienteering

A great opportunity to practise night navigation skills and then camp-out in the State Forest
near Maldon.
 
Description of the Event : Night orienteering
When is it? : Saturday 15th November (and/or Sunday 16th if you stay for the score course on the following day)
Where is it? : Smith's Reef map - just North of the Castlemaine-Maldon Road, 2-3 Km East of Maldon. 
About the Area : The terrain is gentle spur gully with a reasonable number of tracks to assist those just starting out with Night-O.

Enter on Day is possible for the Sunday course
Courses Available : On Saturday, we offer long (2.5 Hour) or Short (1.5 Hour) courses. In addition, the ARDF Group is offering a night-radio-orienteering exercise for those that wish to try this out.

On Sunday, we will use the same controls for a 90 minute score course - Mass Start at 10:30 am.

Directions to the Event : From Castlemaine Town Centre - follow the Midland Highway south for 1.5km, then turn west towards Newstead and Maryborough. After 3km turn right for Maldon (C282). After 7.5 km look for O signs into the forest near the historic school. Follow O signs for about 3km to the assembly area. From Maldon - Take Castlemaine Rd for 5.5km, then look for O signs on left. Follow O signs 3 km to assembly area.  
Other Info : Onsite camping is permitted - please BYO tent/food
