2007 Maxi 3 Hour

Results, reports and piccies

Congratulations to everybody that took part!

The terrain was steeper than in previous years and this presented a real challenge to those that took part. Route choice was critical and it was interesting to see that the 3 winning runners all went much the same way - diverging on one or two controls in the North-Eastern corner of the map.

The assembly location was one of the prettiest start locations that we've come across in many years; having access to clean toilets, running water and the barbecues and tables in the rotunda made everything that much more comfortable for those present.

We were incredibly lucky with the weather - beautiful sunny conditions during the event and for the food/presentations....that gradually deteriorated as we picked up controls and packed the trailer. We had just got the cover over the trailer when the heavens opened - and then drove home to Melbourne in pouring rain!

Overall Results

Here's the initial results - we'll provide a more detailed breakdown soon.

Club Results

The Maxi is, in addition, set up as an inter-club event - and usually, the VRA wins this quite easily. The effort by Bayside members this year was stunning!  In an event where there was a maximum of 1650 points to be gained, the difference of 2,440 points could easily have been achieved. We look forward to an orienteering club winning next year...

Schools Results

Congratulations to all of the schools that took part - great effort by the students concerned in what proved to be quite difficult conditions.  At the moment, the scores are based on the total points accumulated by the students that took part for each school - apologies if this seems unfair to the smaller schools - we're reviewing this area at the moment and will keep you informed of proposed changes for future events.
